Legacy is a team of high-end custom cabinet makers, joiners, and wood restoration technicians focused on preserving and fabrication a wide range of specialty wood products inspired by the last three centuries of North American styles and innovations. Our expertise and passion is to preserve the true art and craftsmanship of historic joinery using green, sustainable procedures and heritage techniques of construction that promote quality and longevity of product as well as a beautiful aesthetic. In terms of window restoration Legacy will only consider commercial, over sized sash, or full house window restoration. We will not consider less than 5 sash sets as a work scope.

Our special processes include both common and more elaborate heritage joinery methods to ensure longevity and enhance the beauty of both historic and newer homes. Through our meticulous attention to detail including careful timber selection, grain pattern matching and application of fine finishes, we are able to create timeless, heirloom pieces that fit a client's vision.
ABOUT THE OWNERS
Alex Pientka, Owner and Head Joiner of Legacy Restoration, developed an interest in woodworking from an early age through his grandfather who was an life-long carpenter. Alex earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Manhattanville College and then completed apprenticeship work with the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust and JB Custom Contracting. He then earned a multi-disciplinary degree in Heritage Conservation from the Willowbank School of Restoration Arts in the historic town of Queenston, Ontario, where he studied both the theory and practice of multiple building trades, concentrating on heritage carpentry and joinery techniques. Upon earning his graduate degree, he worked as a heritage woodworking technician for several private restoration firms prior to founding Legacy Restoration in March 2011.
Claire Laver, Co-Owner and Operations Manager for Legacy Restoration earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Urban Studies with a concentration in Art History. Claire developed an interest in architecture and art through her father who is an architect and her grandmother who was an art historian and docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Claire previously served as Executive Director of Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund and oversaw many public skatepark development projects in this role, including the construction of Paine's Park on Schuylkill Banks. She is also a founding member of the Interfaith Community Building Group of Philadelphia, a non-profit focused on building community through construction projects that benefit the public.
